Chapter 6: Manufacturer-Dealership Relationship

3. The manufacturer must send a written notice to all owners of the affected vehicles, containing the following data:

• The defect

• The particular risk or hazard that the defect creates

• The remedy available, including when it will be available and how long it will take

• What the owners can do if they have any trouble getting the recall accomplished in a reasonable time without charge

4. When the owners bring in the affected vehicles, the manufacturer must pay for the repair or other remedy.

5. The manufacturer must make the repairs regardless of whether the warranty is still in effect, usually up until the vehicle is ten years old
