In 1984 the Maryland General Assembly approved the Law on Execution of the Automotive Warranty more commonly known as “Lemon Law.” This law provides consumers with a range of rights and resources to assist in the implementation of safeguards for the new car manufacturer.
All new cars sold by a dealer in the U.S. come with a manufacturer’s warranty. The warranty may be of little consolation when the dealer or manufacturer does not meet the assurances provided in the warranty or when the new car should be returned for repair and again. If this occurs, the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is the first place to turn for help.
MVA auto dealers license and may be useful in resolving a warranty claim. If the MVA is unable to resolve the dispute, several private legal remedies are available.
