Ontario could become the first province to pass a “lemon law” to force car manufacturers to buy back defective vehicles. Conservative backbencher Rob Sampson introduced a Private Member’s Bill, which passed second reading in the Ontario legislature. Now it goes to committee for review and would have to pass one more vote to become law.
“We have good automobile manufacturers in North America but occasionally as long as there is a lemon car, consumers need some repair,” said Sampson. “This is a good way to do it.”
Sampson said his bill would help protect buyers of cars and trucks that are facing a “substantial deficit” with your new vehicle.
